If you're wondering about what assessments make up your final Math AI grade, you've come to the right place. In this post we will break down each component that of the IB Math AI course.
Paper 3 (HL only)
- Accounts for 20% of HL students' subject grade.
- Paper 3 focuses on the HL content of the Math AI syllabus.
- Students have 1 hour to complete Paper 3.
- Paper 3 is made up of 2 questions. Students must answer both questions.
- A GDC calculator is required for this paper.
Internal Assessment (IA)
- For both SL and HL, the Internal Assessment contributes 20% to the overall subject grade.
- The IA is a mathematical exploration completed individually.
- The IA is assessed internally by the teacher and externally moderated by the IB. This means that a sample from your class will be sent to the IB for verification.
- The exploration must demonstrate mathematical understanding, personal engagement, and clear communication.
- The IA is marked out of 20 using five assessment criteria: Presentation, Mathematical Communication, Personal Engagement, Reflection, and Use of Mathematics. Click here for examiner-reviewed exemplars.
