The Common App is an excellent tool to facilitate the college application process, with over 900 institutes accepting applications through this platform. Students can apply to up to 20 schools using the Common App, which streamlines the application process and makes it easier to track the status of an application. Recommendation letters and transcripts can also be sent to all colleges at once if an application is submitted through the Common App. Read this post to find out if you are eligible to use the Common App.
The Common App is mainly used for undergraduate college applications. This includes First-Year students as well as Transfer students. These are the main account types that can be used to submit an application through the Common App.
Other account types that can be created on the Common App include "Educational professional" and "Parent or other adult". However, these cannot be used to submit an application but can be instead be used to help students plan their applications. Teachers and counsellors will also need to create an "Educational professional" account to be able to submit recommendation letters for students via the Common App. For a detailed Common App account setup guide, check out this post here.
If you are a graduate student, you will unfortunately not be able to use the Common App to apply to colleges or universities. For a more detailed explanation of some other options you can use, check out this post here.
We hope this guide has helped you identify if you are eligible to use the Common App. Good luck with your college applications!
