Are you about to begin writing your Extended Essay (EE) but are unsure what font size to use? With so many fonts available, it is important to choose a font that is easily readable and not too fancy. This post is here to provide some clarity regarding what font size should be used for an EE.

IB EE Font Size

Although there is no mandatory font size stated by the IB, it is recommended to use a font size of 12. This ensures your text is clear and easy to read for examiners. Using a font size that is smaller than this might reduce the readability of your text and could lead to the examiner missing key information if it is difficult to read.

Students are also recommended to use a simple font style such as Arial, Calibri, or Times New Roman when writing their EEs. Avoid using overly decorative or fancy fonts, as these can make your essay look less academic and could also make the text less readable. The text in the EE should also be double-spaced to allow examiners to write comments in between lines.

Do not reduce the font size in any sections simply to make the text fit within a particular line or page. Ensure that the font size, style, and spacing are consistent throughout the EE. This helps improve the presentation of your EE as it ensures uniformity throughout
