In the last five years, the world has rapidly shifted from traditional in-person settings to hybrid or online ones. Many jobs, standardized tests, and educational programs are now available both digitally and in person, enhancing their global accessibility. The IB Diploma Program is set to follow this trend soon by offering digital exams for some subjects This post is here to outline some more information regarding the highly-anticipated IB Digital Exams!.
IB Digital Exams
The IB Digital Exams will first be offered to a limited number of schools for the May 2026 session. All other IB schools will then have the option of offering IB digital exams from the November 2026 session. As of now, the digital exams are planned to be offered for select Group 1 (Studies in Language and Literature) and Group 2 (Language Acquisition) subjects. An expected timeline is shown in the table below.

Note – The IB states that this timeline is subject to change based on the rate of school adoption, community feedback, and ongoing research. All subjects, languages, levels of study, and time zones require a minimum number of students to register to allow for a digital version to be made available. The development and release of additional subjects in Individuals and Societies, Sciences, and Mathematics will be confirmed after usability trials are conducted in 2025-2026.
