Whether the end of IB is in sight or you're just starting out, knowing the deadline for CAS can save you a great deal of stress. In this post we will explain the CAS deadline so that it no longer weighs on your mind.
Since CAS is internally assessed by the school's CAS Coordinator and the IBO does not specify a particular date by which CAS has to be completed, it is the school's CAS Coordinator that decides on the school's internal CAS deadline. Hence, it is best to speak to your school's CAS coordinator as they will be able to provide you with a specific CAS completion date.
Nevertheless, it can be said that most schools require their students to complete their CAS by around 1-2 months before the exam session. Hence, we strongly advise students to plan and organise their CAS experiences and CAS Project in such way that it meets this ''deadline''.
Some might wonder what happens if they miss the CAS completion date set by their school. The key is to remain calm. Since CAS is evaluated solely by the school's CAS Coordinator, arranging a meeting with them and explaining the situation should typically be sufficient to secure an extension. Nevertheless, we strongly recommend that students complete their CAS on time to avoid unnecessary stress.
