  • Highlight your passion for the activity and the dedication you have shown by being deeply involved over time.

  • Discuss how your involvement has made a positive impact on others, whether through leadership, mentorship, or teamwork.

  • Explain how the activity aligns with your long-term goals and values, showing its relevance and importance in your life.

  • Mention any challenges you faced in the activity and how you overcame them, emphasizing the learning and growth you experienced.

 

 

As Georgetown is a diverse community, the Admissions Committee would like to know more about you in your own words. Please submit a brief essay, either personal or creative, which you feel best describes you. (1 page, single-spaced)*

Georgetown College of Arts and Sciences 

 

 

A liberal arts education from the College of Arts & Sciences involves encounters with new concepts and modes of inquiry. Describe something (a class, a book, an event, etc.) that changed your thinking. Applicants to the sciences, mathematics, public policy or languages are encouraged to include examples related to that field. (1 page, single-spaced)

 

  • Describe a class that introduced you to new concepts or ways of thinking. Explain how this class challenged your preconceptions and expanded your understanding of the subject.

  • Discuss a book or reading that significantly impacted your perspective. Explain the ideas or themes that resonated with you and how they influenced your thinking.

  • Share an event or experience that changed your thinking. Describe the circumstances, your initial beliefs, and how this event led to a shift in your perspective.

  • If applicable, provide an example related to your intended field of study. Explain how this example has influenced your academic and career goals.

  • Reflect on how this experience has contributed to your personal growth and development. Explain how it has shaped your values, beliefs, or goals.

Describe the factors that have influenced your interest in studying health care. Please specifically address your intended major - Global Health, Health Care Management & Policy, or Human Science. (1 page, single-spaced)

  • Discuss specific classes, projects, or research that deepened your understanding of health care and influenced your choice of major.

  • Explain how studying health care aligns with your long-term career goals and aspirations.
