Frequently Asked Questions

It combines the marks you enter for each assessment component using official IB weightings, then maps the weighted total to historical grade boundaries for the session you select.

Predictions follow official weightings and past-session boundaries. Your live result can still differ if your exam session’s boundaries shift or if entered marks are estimates.

Yes when a component is not final yet. Replace estimates with confirmed IA, oral, or coursework marks as soon as you have them for a tighter prediction.

Boundaries are session-specific. The same weighted total can map to different grades under different May or November grade boundaries.

For SL, enter marks for: Paper 1, Paper 2, and Internal Assessment. For HL, enter marks for: Paper 1, Paper 2, Internal Assessment, and Extension Oral. It is best to use confirmed coursework or oral marks if you have them, and estimate your paper marks if you have not yet taken the exams.

HL students must also complete the Extension Oral. Without the Extension Oral, an HL Global Politics grade estimate is incomplete. If you are an SL student, please only select SL components.

The oral component accounts for approximately 20% of your Global Politics grade. You can try adjusting your oral mark by ±2 to see if it moves you across the next grade boundary.
