Frequently Asked Questions

It combines the marks you enter for each assessment component using official IB weightings, then maps the weighted total to historical grade boundaries for the session you select.

Predictions follow official weightings and past-session boundaries. Your live result can still differ if your exam session’s boundaries shift or if entered marks are estimates.

Yes when a component is not final yet. Replace estimates with confirmed IA, oral, or coursework marks as soon as you have them for a tighter prediction.

Boundaries are session-specific. The same weighted total can map to different grades under different May or November grade boundaries.

For SL, enter marks for: Paper 1, Paper 2, and Solution. For HL, enter marks for: Paper 1, Paper 2, Paper 3, and Solution. It is best to use confirmed coursework or oral marks if you have them, and estimate your paper marks if you have not yet taken the exams.

HL students must also complete the Paper 3. Without the Paper 3, an HL Computer Science grade estimate is incomplete. If you are an SL student, please only select SL components.

The Solution accounts for approximately 20% of your total Computer Science grade before boundaries are applied. Updating a predicted mark to a confirmed score will often improve the accuracy of your estimate more than adjusting individual paper scores.
