How does the IB grade calculator work?
It combines the marks you enter for each assessment component using official IB weightings, then maps the weighted total to historical grade boundaries for the session you select.
How accurate are the grade predictions?
Predictions follow official weightings and past-session boundaries. Your live result can still differ if your exam session’s boundaries shift or if entered marks are estimates.
Should I enter predicted marks?
Yes when a component is not final yet. Replace estimates with confirmed IA, oral, or coursework marks as soon as you have them for a tighter prediction.
Why does changing the exam session change my grade?
Boundaries are session-specific. The same weighted total can map to different grades under different May or November grade boundaries.
Which Chemistry marks should I enter?
Please enter the scores for Paper 1A, Paper 1B, Paper 2, and Practical Work corresponding to your level. Ensure you match the maximum marks shown so that the Chemistry weightings are applied correctly.
Do SL and HL Chemistry use different maximum marks?
Yes. For example, Paper 1A is out of 30 marks at SL and 40 marks at HL. Please select the correct level before entering your marks.
How much does Practical Work affect my Chemistry grade?
The Practical Work accounts for approximately 20% of your total Chemistry grade before boundaries are applied. Updating a predicted mark to a confirmed score will often improve the accuracy of your estimate more than adjusting individual paper scores.
