If you're getting ready to embark on your CAS Project, you have come to the right place. In this post, we will provide you with all the requirements you must satisfy to successfully complete your CAS Project.
Students complete one CAS Project that must last at least 4 weeks.
In those 4 (or more) weeks, students must satisfy the 5 CAS Stages:
For more information on the CAS Project Stages, make sure to check out our IB CAS Project Stages post.
A minimum of three reflections and pieces of evidence is required for the CAS Project. Students are however encouraged to include more.
Students are not required to cover all three CAS strands at once. A CAS Project can focus on one, two, or all strands. Most CAS Projects however engage with at least 2 CAS Strands.
The IB requires that the CAS Project must be completed by a group of at least 2 students, without specifying an upper boundary. This means that students are allowed to complete their CAS Project in much larger groups, of course so long as it can be shown that each member had a meaningful role and input in the project.
Since CAS is internally assessed by the school's CAS Coordinator and the IBO does not specify a particular date by which CAS has to be completed, it is the school's CAS Coordinator that decides on the school's internal CAS deadline. Hence, it is best to speak to your school's CAS coordinator as they will be able to provide you with a specific CAS completion date.
Nevertheless, it can be said that most schools require their students to complete their CAS by around 1-2 months before the exam session. Hence, we strongly advise students to plan and organise their CAS experiences and CAS Project in such way that it meets this ''deadline''.
