
For the Class of 2028, the University of California, San Diego's wait list acceptance rate stands at 16.5%, with 4,539 of the 27,521 applicants admitted. This marks a significant increase compared to the Class of 2027, which had a mere 9.0% acceptance rate with 2,616 acceptances from 29,087 waitlisted students. Historical data reveals a drastic drop in 2022 with a 4.67% acceptance rate (2,400 out of 51,350), and a complete 0% acceptance rate in 2021, as no applicants were admitted from 25,419 waits. Prior to this, the Class of 2020 experienced a high acceptance rate of 26.79% with 5,282 admissions from 19,714 offers. These trends indicate considerable fluctuations in the wait list process, making it an unpredictable aspect of the admissions landscape at UC San Diego.
