Carnegie Mellon University reported a domestic acceptance rate of 11.4% for the application year 2024, with 33,707 applicants and 3,843 admissions. This marks a stabilization in acceptance rates compared to the previous year, which had the same rate of 11.4% and a similar number of applicants. In contrast, the acceptance rate was significantly higher at 22.0% for the application year 2019, indicating a trend of increasing competitiveness in recent years. The consistent acceptance rate over the last two application years suggests that while the applicant pool is growing, CMU's selectivity has solidified.
